Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
For both men and women, learn to strengthen the muscles lining your pelvic floor.
Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
For both men and women, pelvic health physiotherapy treats problems such as:
- Urinary incontinence
- Urgency and frequency
- Bowel incontinence
- Constipation
- Chronic pelvic pain or lower abdominal pain
- Bladder, uterus or rectal prolapse
- Pelvic floor muscle dysfunction
- Myofascial pain
- Perinatal complications including episiotomy problems or tears during delivery
- Sexual dysfunction
Pelvic health physiotherapy examines muscle function, problems with the nervous system, bowel and bladder habits, the effects of diet on bowel and bladder health, the impact of body mechanics, and the role of posture as it relates to the pelvic floor.
Pelvic health physiotherapists often work with other health professionals including family physicians, urogynecologists and nurses. A doctor’s referral is not required but is preferred.
